Hip Implant Model

This hip implant model is 3 1/2 x the size of the real implant. This human friendly scale shows off the design and features of the model to potential customers at trade shows.

This model was created with a combination of processes and materials, including CNC routed tooling board and 3D printed parts. The surface textures varied quite a bit and featured vacuum metalized chrome and clear coat paint to resemble a glass finish.

The hip model is a modular design. Some parts nestled into each other, while others attached by way of magnets. In this way, the model could be disassembled for demonstration purposes.
